Our Story

Giles Ranch II of Azle, Texas is the second of the ‘Giles Ranch’ names. Originally started in Jasper, Missouri, the Giles raised grass fed Murray Grey cattle. The Giles selected good stewardship as the distinguishing characteristic of their family ranch.

Gaited horses were first introduced to me at their ranch & it changed my horse career forever!

Giles Ranch II is proud to continue the legacy & create a new one in the world of the gaited trail horse. We strive to be good stewards of the great creation which God has given us.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace….”

We are a small operation & want to promote the Tennessee Walking Horses’ versatility. Furthering the breed with traditional size & gait.
In 2019 we stumbled across a beautiful TWH mare who needed a little work under saddle. This mare would trigger my interest into the walking horse & turn out to be a wonderful trail partner. This mare was Cherokee.

Later in 2020 I stumbled across a breeder in Montana who had two of the prettiest walkers I had ever seen: Skye & Misty.

Debbie Jeppesen with Walkers On Water inspired me to pursue the breed further & create a mini version of what she had in the north. We found it impossible to find horses like hers in Texas. Her horses just had it all. Everything we wanted: size, bone, personality & gait. I knew I needed her stock as the foundation to my small program. I purchased my first stallion prospect from her by Skye in 2021 & began a wonderful friendship with her. Modoc was a wonderful colt & was an absolute breeze to start under saddle. I’ve never had a more willing colt.

In 2022 I purchased a big red filly from Debbie. This was Comanche. Her sire was an amazing 17h heritage stallion who boasted kindness & old blood. Limo was a special horse. He was purchased from Debbie’s mentor: Nya. Nya picked Limo as a weanling & raised him into a prolific sire. I know Nya shaped most of what Debbie embodies when it comes to walking horses. She was a dear friend to Debbie & will be greatly missed. Although we never met, Debbie carried Nya’s legacy forward producing many fine foals & became the embodiment of what Nya sought to create. Debbie’s kindness & love for her horses is first & foremost. Debbie & Nya’s favorite mare was Misty & in 2022 Misty was having trouble up north with the cold. Doing what was best for her, Debbie graciously gifted her to me. Here in Texas the winters are not harsh & Misty’s health improved. I take GREAT pride in caring for this amazing mare.

Misty is THE mare of all mares in my eyes. I had compared every horse I looked into growing my program with, to her. Never had I seen a more beautiful horse. Misty means the world to Debbie so it was no small act to acquire her. I have & will always cherish Debbie entrusting me with her care.

In 2023 I found out Misty’s dam, Rain was in foal to Skye. I reached out to Skye’s new owner & begged her to put me at the top of the list for the foal. Rain is an amazing producer. I can pick out her foals from any line up. It doesn’t matter the stallion, she always puts her beautiful head, kind eye & big bone on her foals. Rain is a senior mare & this foal could be one of her last. It turned out to be a stunning coal black colt. He was a carbon copy of Rain. This colt is Mohawk, my current stallion prospect.

In 2024 Debbie offered me a filly she had planned on keeping but my persistence in inquiring about her, wore her down. Apache is the granddaughter to Misty & also introduced McCurdy blood from her sire’s side, into my program. I knew being able to continue Misty’s lineage through Apache is what would make history. My family’s history. My goal has always been to share horses with my family. I want my children to grow up with horses & when they look back, see the dedication it took to make such fine horses. Making history is a slow process, one that takes a lifetime. One that requires patience, mentorship & stewardship.

I will continue to share my passion with others & strive to further the Walking Horse breed with disposition, companionship, bone & gait. We look forward to the years ahead & creating a legacy here at Giles Ranch II.

For the love of horses,

For as long as I can remember, I have loved horses. My parents supported my love & my mother taught me to be fearless on the back of a horse. My aunt gladly provided me with horses over the years & with the support of those horse women behind me, I became obsessed. I thank God for a husband who supports me, a family who loves me & great horses to ride.
Happy Trails!
